Inspiration Behind My Art - Wayne Rieve
For as long as I can remember, I have been doing art in one form or another. When I was in grade school, I remember reading a book about Pablo Picasso. What stuck with me was that none of his art looked like the traditional art you would see in someone’s home or in a frame on the wall. I also remember reading a quote of his, “Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up.”
This has been one of my goals in life. Never lose the child artist in me. I have struggled in this as when I was younger I had an accident that required me to have reconstructive surgery on my wrist. I spent a year in casts and another 6 months in braces. Plus, a year of physical therapy where I had to learn how to hold a pencil again. It took some time before I was able to draw, but I never gave up on art. I took up Pottery, Sculpting, Photography, and Computer Graphics. I was able to graduate High School with a ceramics scholarship and attended college for Graphic Design and 2D Design.
With all the mediums I was able to pursue, my love of art followed me into my adult life when it came to work. I have worked for several theatrical companies as a Graphic Artist, Set Designer, Advertising, and Stage Lighting. I have also worked as a Logo Designer and Graphic Designer for a couple of companies. In my current career, I am the Lead Content Artist for Poisoned Heart Productions. In this position I get to create art on a daily basis and hopefully never lose the child artist in me.
